A Milano la Casa Tognella, opera di Ignazio Gardella altrimenti nota come “Casa al Parco” (1946-’53) è oggetto di un intervento approvato ed ora in corso di realizzazione (si vedano le immagini allegate) che appare destinato a mutarne fortemente l’equilibrio e il significato.
I firmatari di questa petizione chiedono al Ministro per i Beni e le Attività Culturali, al Presidente della Regione Lombardia e al Sindaco del Comune di Milano se per caso non possa essere evitata questa che sembrerebbe grave indifferenza, ancora perpetrata nell’ex BelPaese, nei confronti della cultura architettonica di respiro europeo.

L’edificio, con la sua controversa realizzazione, rappresenta forse un trait d’union tra il razionalismo italiano tra le due guerre – di cui Gardella fu uno dei giovani protagonisti – e quel movimento, più indefinito, del secondo dopoguerra che a suo modo corrisponde al neorealismo nel cinema e nella letteratura. Architettura innovativa e sperimentale per alcuni aspetti e soluzioni che vanno dall’impianto strutturale, ai rivestimenti, agli infissi, e per i caratteri distributivi e tipologici, questa “casa” riesce al contempo ad interpretare il genius loci milanese, divenendo notevole esempio di integrazione con il contesto architettonico ed ambientale.
In the city center of Milan an intervention on a master work in Italian XX Century architecture is under construction (see images). Unfortunately, it looks to be destined to alter the equilibrium and the meaning of Casa Tognella, a relevant building by Ignazio Gardella otherwise known as “Casa al Parco” (1946-’53). This building, with its controversial achievement, represents an actual link between the early Italian Rationalism of which Gardella has been one of the younger leading actors – proposing, between the world wars, the Italian version of the International Style – and the less definite movement of the following decades, corresponding in some ways to what in literature and visual arts has been called the Neorealism. An experimental, innovative piece of architecture for some aspects and technical solutions ranging from structure to coatings and windows, and moreover for the typology and distribution, this house building can at the same time portray the “Milanese” genius loci, thus becoming a remarkable exemple of integration with the architectural and environmental context.
