Ceramic Futures: From Poetry to Science Fiction is a project organized by Cersaie. For its 2nd edition, the project is held in collaboration with Accademia delle Belle Arti di Bologna, École nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs (EnsAD), ELISAVA and Politecnico di Milano.

POLIMI will take part with 6 MA students & 2 staff members: call for students is now open!
Sixty students working in nine cross-disciplinary (Art and Architecture) and transnational (5 Nationality) groups will develop proposals for public artworks in Kracow. Two academics, again, cross-disciplinary and transnational, are appointed to each student group to support them in the organisation and execution of their project.
Have a look at the WS programme and if interested send, using we-transfer or similar, your Portfolio in PDF format [max A3 size and 50MB].

Mirjam Ohringer – Widerstand gegen die Nationalsozialisten in NL
Per la Giornata della Memoria (27 Gennaio 2014), lablog, all’interno del progetto di ricerca REcall, è andato ad ascoltare i racconti di Mirjam Ohringer, una sopravvissuta alla deportazione di Ebrei ad Amsterdam e membro attivo della Resistenza Ebrea in città. Tra le tante cose dette nelle due ore di conversazione, Mirjam ha ricordato di aver rifiutato la possibilità che le si era creata di emigrare in Svizzera per non abbandonare la sua posizione di giovane della resistenza cittadina.
Dal 18 al 28 settembre presso il Politecnico di Milano, campus Leonardo si terrà un workshop didattico di progettazione (4CFU) aperto agli studenti di architettura e urbanistica (triennio e biennio) dedicato alla riprogettazione di Piazza Leonardo da Vinci attraverso l’integrazione di tecniche di lettura e disegno dello spazio urbano e di allestimento e movimento nello spazio scenico. Il workshop si colloca nell’ambito della sperimentazione Piazza Leonardo un insieme di iniziative di collaborazione tra Amministrazione comunale/zona 3 di Milano finalizzato alla riqualificazione della Piazza, punta a risultati concreti e fattibili che verranno discussi pubblicamente, avrà come esito parziale l’allestimento di una performance pubblica.

MINES LANDSCAPE DESIGN is a workshop organized by DASTU / Politecnico di Milano that will take place in September between Iglesias (Sardinia) and Milan.

Research by design activity aimed at envisioning projects in consistency with the issues pointed out in the REcall-project Call. Two-days visits to the case-study sites will provide direct knowledge of the project areas and identification of specific requirements suggested by the hosting institutions. The workshop activities will comprise teamwork, conferences, seminars, lectures and communications from local administration.

This call for tenders is part of the REcall project and aims at receiving enthusiastic and thorough proposal for Difficult Heritage – such as the ones coming from XX Century conflicts and wars – re-appropriation interventions. Selected entries will be granted access to one of the two design workshops which will take place in Norway and Italy in 2013. Proposals will be guided towards a successful end, in which those selected entries will compete for a final prize involving an economic contribution.
Call for Application
Sixty students working in nine cross-disciplinary and transnational groups will develop proposals for a permanently sited public artwork as part of the Emscher Kunst Triennale 2013. Working collaboratively in your cross-disciplinary groups you are asked to respond creatively to the designated site. You are asked to reflect upon this unique context and to design a place for human interaction/contemplation. This should be a specially designed site-specific structure that is situated somewhere along the green belt area that incorporates steel as the main material.
The assessment will be done via an exhibition and a formal presentation to a selection committee: at the end of the assessment, at least one proposal will be selected to be fully realized.
Selection criteria
POLIMI will select the 6 participants according the evaluation of the following delivered documents (collected together into one single PDF file of max 20MB):
– a Portfolio (on pag 1 – cover – place name surname and ph&email contacts)
– a Letter of Motivation
– a Presentation concerning the last point highlighted in the program description: the request to research aspects of the brief prior to the start of the project (download and read the full program).

REcall – European Conflict Archaeological Landscape Re-appropriation
Concorso per laureandi e giovani laureati.
1. Tre membri, per ognuno dei dieci gruppi che verranno selezionati, parteciperanno (avendo tutto spesato) ad uno dei due workshop previsti (uno in Norvegia e uno in Italia).
2. Inoltre ogni gruppo ha un rimborso di 1000 euro come contribuito per le spese di elaborazione dei materiali da consegnare nella seconda fase.
3. I vincitori, riceveranno un premio di 3000 euro se primi e 2000 se secondi.
4. Infine, tre membri del gruppo di progettazione parteciperanno, avendo tutto spesato, al seminario finale con mostra e convegno.
5. I gruppi dovranno essere composti almeno da 1 architetto, 1 archeologo, 1 artista.

The Venice workshop has for REcall a double challenge: is the occasion for launching officially (and in public) the project and also to test the quality and the quantity of its research queries. But the choice of Venice is not by chance, but a carefully elaborated decision connected to the specific concept behind the fore coming 13th Architecture Biennale titled ‘Common Ground’.
In recent decades the dissemination and accentuationof the perception of disaster have fueled insecurity and collective fear by encouraging the development of technicist rhetoric, that uses engineering as linear solution to the issues.
Above a certain line of speed and employment of information, a disaster takes such a social and cultural significance that technical knowledge and economies are forced to reorganize themselves exclusively within its logic. The promise of a total security guaranteed by Rhetoric is the answer to the collective fear unleashed by the media. Read the rest of this entry »

After July 11th a date for short inerviews will be fixed, in order to select the 8 students who will participate in the workshop.

Cari tutti,
il Laboratorio di Cooperazione Internazionale del DiAP del Politecnico di Milano organizza un Workshop Internazionale RECIFE CALLS MILANO sul tema della pianificazione degli spazi verdi periurbani a Recife, che si terrà a Milano nella settimana tra il 19 al 24 novembre 2012.
Questo workshop è il primo di una serie che vedrà coinvolte altre realtà (per ora Cairo e Salvador de Bahia).
